02202019CM0694SPRINGFIELD – To protect senior citizens from the many scams that target them, State Senator Rachelle Crowe (D-Glen Carbon) is seeking to create a new state task force.

“We hear of a new scam or someone trying to take advantage of the elderly every day,” said Crowe. “I wanted to make sure we have an educated group of people looking out for our most vulnerable population’s best interests while strengthening our protections for them.”

The measure creates an Elder Abuse Task Force, consisting of 20 members to investigate the effectiveness of current elder protective services and laws while increasing public awareness of elder abuse and encouraging people to report it.

Crowe’s legislation, Senate Joint Resolution 13 was approved by a Senate committee today and will go to the Senate floor for further consideration.
