midamericaMARYVILLE – To advance infrastructure goals and create jobs in the Metro East, State Senator Rachelle Aud Crowe (D-Glen Carbon) secured a $7 million grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation to support the construction of a new Boeing manufacturing facility at MidAmerica St. Louis Airport.

“Boeing has spurred our state’s economic growth for decades, and today it employs more than 15,000 residents,” Crowe said. “Investments in our aerospace industry create jobs in Illinois, and I look forward to supporting the continued expansion of Boeing’s presence in the Metro East.”

The new 291,000 square-foot facility at MidAmerica St. Louis Airport is scheduled to begin construction later this year and will help create nearly 300 jobs for the Metro East region over the next three years.

Boeing is investing $200 million total to build a state-of-the-art facility to produce the MQ-25 Stingray, the U.S. Navy’s first carrier-based unmanned aircraft. Residents are encouraged to learn more on Boeing’s website.
