10.14 Crowe blood drive MARYVILLE – To replenish the supply at local blood centers, State Senator Rachelle Aud Crowe (D-Glen Carbon) is hosting a community blood drive at the Wood River Police Department.

“Blood is essential to help patients survive surgeries, cancer treatments and traumatic injuries,” Crowe said. “As we’re living in a pandemic and thinking more about our neighbors’ health, it’s an important reminder for those who are able to consider giving generous blood donations and offer support to others enduring difficult times.”

ImpactLife’s donor bus is scheduled to be in the Wood River Police Department parking lot at 550 E. Madison Ave. on Thursday, Oct. 14 from 3-7 p.m. Donors have the option to choose from a t-shirt or gift card for participating.

Donating one unit of blood may save the lives of up to three people, according to the American Red Cross. In July 2021, the Red Cross announced a severe national blood shortage.

Masks and appointments are required for participants. Residents can make an appointment by calling 800-747-5401 or visiting www.bloodcenter.org/group using the sponsor code 11193.
